The Story
The Griffin's originated in the 1970s as a private cigar blend created for the Griffin's Club, an exclusive nightclub in Geneva, Switzerland, owned by Bernard Grobet — a close friend of Zino Davidoff. The cigars were produced in the Dominican Republic exclusively for the club's discerning clientele. The cigars proved so popular with guests that by 1984 they were being sold in Swiss tobacconists, and by 1989 they had reached the American market. Zino Davidoff initially distributed the cigars under the Davidoff umbrella before Oettinger Davidoff AG formally acquired the brand in 2004. Today, The Griffin's is manufactured in the Dominican Republic alongside other Oettinger Davidoff brands, offering an elegant, mild-to-medium smoking experience that reflects its roots in Swiss sophistication. The brand has expanded to include a Nicaragua line, but its core identity remains tied to refined Dominican craftsmanship and the rarefied atmosphere of a Geneva private club.
